Sketchbook time.

Hi guys, I've been busy working away on my first uni project, as you probably know I'm at Brighton studying fashion and I thought I'd share a few pages from my sketchbook and my final 8 designs to show family and friends what I'm upto.

The brief was to design a mens shirt that had to be made out of calico and contain all the traditional elements (plackets, button stand, pocket, cuff and collar) so at first I freaked a little! I looked at street style and trends to start with, which are the areas I'm really into, from that I created some very initial designs using paper to represent parts of my design I wanted to isolate, when I noticed how interesting the ways in which paper folds and the straight angler lines formed, so I just carried on doing experiments and designs.

Lots of foldings and paper going on here, aswell as using my boyfriend as a model for observational work!
My Final 8 designs, also inspired by samurai outfits and shaping.

Drawings
These are a few of the quick sketches we did in class, at first it was hard to get back into quick observational sketches but it liked it towards the end,

PARIS IN 4 DAYS

HEY I'M BACK!  I've just moved into halls so I've been settling in but I think it's time to show all the photos from my Paris trip! I was very lucky and went to Paris for a few days before I started Uni, I can't explain how inspiring it was, I don't know how we managed to fit in so much so there's a lot of photos to show! The trip consisted of running around Paris in search for vintage shops, attending art galleries/fashion exhibitions and awkwardly having security guards keeping an eye on me because my camera flash kept going off! Then back to shopping and a lot of sight seeing and finally we went to my new pad, Versailles...!

ACNE €1100 DRESS
We got distracted whilst looking for the vintage shops (I'll be posting my new clothes soon) and ended up in one of my favourite shops Acne.
ART NOUVEAU METRO ENTRANCE
LOVE PADLOCKS
DRIES VAN NOTEN SHOP! INLOVE!
STREET INSPIRATIONS
BALENCIAGA
This was one of the things we'd planned to do, but we didn't realise that there was a Comme Des Garcons exhibition too, so it was a good surprise!
This is draped so beautifully, such a simplistic design that is timeless.
COMME DES GARCONS EXHIBITION
I don't usually like their runway, but once you take the clothing into an exhibition space I think they totally transform, as every things plain around it so you focus more on the clothing.
TICKETS!
REMEMBER I BLOGGED ABOUT THEM?
GOTTA BE DONE- EIFFEL TOWER

 VERSAILLES
There is so much to look at here, its definable worth going but it's incredibly massive, did really need my walking shoes!
 'THE MODERN ART CIRCLE' EXHIBITION
Kees Van Dongen is one of my favourite artists,  I can't explain how much I love it!
GALLERIE LAFAYETTE
 POMPADOUR CENTRE- GERHARD RICHTER

So I've managed to cram in as many photos as I can, we had so much fun and I'll never forget the trip,

BRICK LANE

Before the PPQ fashion show Natalie and I had a lot of time to kill so we hit Brick lane!
Yeah so I'm trying on sunglasses whilst still having my sunglasses on my head, just can't get enough of them!
This is the shop where I found a pretty darn cool dress! I'm really into long straight midi dresses styled up so it's no surprise I bought one, I love the oriental print! Brick lane definitely lives up to the hype, once you've passed all the indian restaurants you reach vintage paradise :)
Dress: £14 Vintage Basement
Belt: £2 Charity shop
Shoes: £3.99 Charity shop

I went to Paris last week so I'll be sharing lots of photos of what we did and found soon! There was quite a few cheap vintage shops where theres just piles of clothing to sort through at €1, so obviously I' bought loads! Everything just about squeezed into my hand luggage!
